What will you do ...?
What
would happen if you opened your eyes and found there were so many blasphemy of the public
to almost leaders in your country because of had
worst leadership style?. I am a student at University in
Kuningan. To answer the question above is certainly not as easy to criticize a
show action in an action movie, because we need to really
focus on the possibility of things related to the case.
There are four things to do to solve the crisis of confidence in the leadership
that is being run in this country. The four things are management, team work,
leadership and responsibility .
The first is to examine the existing
management system. Management is an important tool that encourages small and
large groups of organizations in achieving its objectives (Malayu,2007). As
well as other authors suggested that management is essential for all successful
movements of an organization in achieving its objectives (Ukas, 2010) . The
management elements consists of: man, money, method, machines, materials and
market. Thus, checking and fixing the elements of personal and organizational
management ( political governance ) is very important to do, whether every
element is working properly and used according to its function or not .
The second is desire to team work. Team work
is the basics of system management, where the basics of management is
cooperation among a group of people in a formal ties, the existence of common
goals and interests, the division of labor, duties and responsibilities regular,
good relations order and the presence of human organization (Malayu, 2007). Teamwork
is " work done by several associates with each doing a part but all
subordinating personal prominence to the efficiency of the whole " . Eliminate
the selfish self and mutual opportunities to provide input and strengthen weak
bond is a form of creation of team work in a work area .
The
third thing is to be aware and possessed leadership.
Future success is
not only determined by the high
level of intelligence and one's proficiency in socialize but more focused on the leadership skills that you
have. Based on the definition of
leadership itself, leadership is the ability of a superior to influence
the behavior of
subordinates and persuade
them to follow
a particular course
of action (Barnard,1938). Leadership is a trait that is
owned by someone who can influence others to do the work in order to achieve
the expected goals. Someone who has a good ability to lead can certainly always
be someone who is influential, take the best decisions quickly but take full
responsibility of it and provide the right stimulus to the people around the
leader.
However,
it is necessary to know that according to Malayu and Hasibuan, leadership is
composed of four types. They are authoritarian leadership, participative leadership,
and discretionary and situational
leadership. Authoritarian style of leadership is convinced that all the actions
and decisions are absolute belongs to the leader and no one is entitled to
interfere with the decision. Participative leadership is leadership that creates gay harmonious cooperation, foster loyalty and participation of subordinates. Delegative leadership is leadership that frees employees in their job on their own accord, regardless of what the employee will do. Situational leadership is a leadership style that provides a different approach to each person, depending on the person or the person's character. Of the four styles of leadership that have been described, there is no best type of leadership, due to several factors, leadership must be in conformity with the objectives, subordinate, organizational, leadership and character of the existing situation. So, let the leader can choose the appropriate leadership style by taking into account factors that exist.
The
last is a responsibility. Responsibility is an act in accepting the risks that
arise as a result of taking the action that has been decided beforehand.
Certainly good leader must have good responsibility. The characteristics person
has a sense of responsibility, can identified of a few things such as: Accept
any consequences arising from the decisions that have been made personally or
by the group, dare carry the risk of employee’s error, not blaming others
toward personal and group failure, stop protest in order to escape from the
acceptance of risk , and accept the effects of things that cannot be controlled.
Someone who has a sense of responsibility certainly never been afraid to fail,
to blame or fear of losing a job. The person must be ready to dare to admit and
take responsibility for everything that has been done, and the responsibility
should be owned by someone who has a position as a leader.
The fourth
factors already mentioned,
and all of it is one way to fix a broken system of
leadership, for example in the leadership system
in an educational
institution or even
in the government sector. It can
also be used as a requirement
in the selection of future leaders who
can be trusted and
placed in position with the task of running an organization, either within a company or
state. Thereby, if
there are a hundred people in this country who have skills in management, work well in
a team work, have the ability
in leadership and
the responsibility are quite
high. So certainly,
we will have the
capable future leaders and
do not need to worry about the long-term sustainability of life.
